Brian Paddick has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the London Mayoral election.
Winning an overwhelmingly 73 per cent of votes amongst London members, the former Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police will be battling against Ken Livingstone and Boris Johnson to become Mayor of London next May.
Brian will use his record as Commander of the Lambeth police force, where he delivered positive results on crime and was responsible for managing a £37 million budget.
As Mayor, Brian's number one priority will be crime. He is, he says, going to look "beyond the criminal activity to understand the issues behind the crimes - poverty, housing, education, health, business and employment - and I have worked with these agencies."
Brian will also overhaul the Congestion Charge to make it fairer and convert the Tube to run on renewable energy.
Brian beat barrister Chamali Fernando and Haringey councillor Fiyaz Mugha, who, despite good campaigns, were unable to match Brian Paddick's unique practical experience on combating crime with a strong public profile.
