The Liberal Democrats oppose the imposition of ID cards - they're expensive, invasive and won't work
Leader of the Lib Dems Charles Kennedy has helped launch a new web site. No ID Cards (www.libdems.org.uk/noidcards) is part of the Lib Dems' campaign against the government's plans to force everyone to carry a card.
"The Home Secretary ... himself admitted they would not have stopped the awful bombings in London," said Mr Kennedy. "The sums of money involved would be much better spent on putting more police on the street, where they can stop crime."

The Liberal Democrats believe that the ID card plan is another expensive government fiasco in the making.
