After pressure from residents, families, staff and the local Liberal Democrats Homefield House is reprieved
Homefield House has been reprieved from closure. Existing elderly residents will be allowed to remain there however, no new residents will be admitted. The building will be used for rehabilitation services (e.g. occupational therapy).
"I am delighted that the threat of eviction has been lifted for existing residents," said Cllr Ian Atkins.
"But I am disappointed that Labour has not allowed Homefield House to be open to new residents. There are many vulnerable elderly people locally who will in future need a local care home like Homefield House."
In Scotland, people are entitled to free long term care for elderly following pressure from the Liberal Democrats. Sadly Labour have not done the same here.
